experimentation, peer pressure, and validation, being fashionable.
in a way im glad the price of cigarettes are this high now - at least it deters some of these teens from starting, and if they actually tried, stops them from continuing. -

they are two seperate questions:
1. teens pick up smoking because of peer pressure.
2. as long as govt identify its something that many cannot do without, the price will somehow shoot up, regardless of what commodity and what reasons. e.g. cigarettes, cars, mrt fares, boozes and etc.
and the money will go to? e.g. the seven wonders. -

as to why? it was curiosity.. then after that, it was fun.. something to do.. gave me time at work to go out, chill out, have a break.. -
Pffft... Yea RIGHT! It's because of the duties on the cigarettes. Don't you know that they know tax you per stick? That's the reason why the price is going up. Aniwaez, I think the real question is, why do people still do it after all these Health Education lessons? My friend got an "A" for her project on not smoking, but one week later, she started smoking... I think it's to do with family background... Then they mix with the bad company, the school dropouts, etc... and pick up smoking because they're desperate to cling onto this "family". -

Other than for fun, peer pressure, stress....i suppose it's cos' these teenagers are also not into sports or watever...

I personally dun smoke because i feel that the money from buying cigarettes can be used to fund my other hobbies... I poor mah.
So if u like smoking, by all means do it lor, just have to pay for it lah. There's no good or bad about smoking lah.. u happy can liao. -
