I know of this guy who adheres to this strategy in trying to defeat his opponent and win over the gal's heart. It is very Social Darwinist in nature.
"Do everything to find out about the other guy's strengths and weaknesses via-a-vis the gal.Once you find out his Achilles heel,do everything to undermine and discredit him,subtly of course.Say for example, the gal is an animal lover but the guy is not known to be one. Exploit this fact by dropping hints here and there about how much of an animal lover you are and subtly discredit the guy in this aspect. For instance, say "too bad he is not into pets, if not you two can have a great time visiting pet shops." When one says this, it is not the same as "he does not share the same interests as you, but I do". The key is always to maintain a veneer of, how you say it,"of being a gentleman". Making such comments can make the gal subconsciously make comparisons. She will think "hmm this guy is not congruent with me in some ways,but the other guy is." Once she start making comparisons, you have gained a step ahead of your Enemy."
How do you people think? By the way, the gal is single in the scenario. -

It's a workable plan, Doenitz. In my case the other idiot did himself in by being a jerk, and that bought me advertising space, if you know what I mean.
While you're at it, look for the underlying factors in what she says if she mentions anything about the other guy. That often reveals the things that she holds of high importance.
At the end of the day, if you can work your way into the role of confidant, you're in a very strong position. Just a word of warning, though - if she says she feels safe with you after the relationship's started, it's fine, but if she says she feels safe with you before the start of the relationship, make sure you don't end up in the "big brother" role. Not everybody's inclined towards incest. -

unethical IMO.. shd let the gal focus on ur gd points instead of the other guy's bad points. if i'm a gal and i see thru wat this guy is doing, i'll think he's very 'jian' and would strike him off the list immediately.
