by Yocool ChickenA pirated version of the EZ Link card has started circulating in the market after the original company, EZ Link Private Limited, increased its purchase cost. The pirated version of the EZ Link card is rumoured to be quite popular with Singaporeans.
Said a commuter, Mr Buay Pai Seh, "Aiyah, who cares whether pirated or not? Can use, okay leow..."
When asked where he got his card, Mr Buay answered, "Aiyah, I think abailable at all leading pirated CD/VCD stores, or bus interchange. Very cheap, 5 dollars only... some more got free gift... They give you S$20 inside, FREE!"
As the TalkingCock reporting team went down to take a look, they confirmed that these pirated EZ Link Cards were selling like hot cakes, even better than pirated VCDs.
Said Pirated EZ Link seller, Mr Pai Le Ted, "Aiyoh! All my EZ Link Kard, ah, sell like Mehdonner w[/i]horecakes, man! Solid! Compatible with all EZ Link top up, ah. Our technology is so powderful, even the staff also donno, leh!"
However, EZ Link Private Limited spokesman Mr Boh Tan Lui, denied that commuters will be able to use these pirated EZ Link Cards in the future. "We'll be starting a donno what Activation System. Like the Windows XP, like that, but a bit the different. Must activate before using."
When asked how this is to be done, Mr Boh explained, "You must bring it to any Transitlink Office, tell them to verify. They'll check, and send a code to the system. Then they will print a receipt, ask you to fill in, and ask you to wait for fifteen days. Then you must call the hotline and then they will tell you the code number. You must log in to our TransitLink office website, enter the code and purchase a EZ Link machine to insert your EZ Link and it will activate for you."
Mr Boh assured that all this will take no less than 1 month. However he added, "For all this procedures, we need to increase our cost. So, in the future commuters will need to pay S$20 in admin costs for a S$5 fare card."
The Land Transport Authority declined to give any comments, but then said they were just talking cock. "We'll never approve that. At most, we'll only let them increase the cost from S$15 to S$19.99, and fare usage will be upped to S$5.01."
