Chinese Wedding.... what am i suppose to do?

Hey ppl.
One of my very close friend is gona get married soon. and She wants me to be one of her "Jie Mei" during the chinese Customary.
All I know is that when the groom comes to the Bride's home, the "jie mei" is suppose to bar the door and give difficult tasks the groom to test the groom's devotion for the bride.
Is there anything else a "jie mei" is to do? What's a chinese customary like? I am a chinese but never been to one just know what the TV shows....
P.S. anyone have very good tricks, tasks to test the groom's devotion??? Give some ideas can??? Guys tell me what u were made to do in order to get into the house!!! -
are u the head jie mei? if not then seat back and relax to get ang bao cos you will not be the one planning what to do. Usually if you are not the head they will just assign you some task.
way to test .
1) eat bitter food ;p
2) sing songs
3) push up
4) write contract
5) sing songs
6) give more cash ( hehe )
7) dance around
drink some super " health " drink mix by jie mei
9) do rick martin dance moves. -

She told me now currently she only thought of two jie mei....

well, ask ur fren how comfortable is she with the jie meis teasing the groom, and the extend of it... then start ur 'evil' planning...
i feel that the day belongs to the bride and groom, and the other people are not there to fool the "couple of the day", but to make it as memorable for them as possible...
maybe instead of games, you can get the groom to act out the first time they met, sing their special songs or do something that the bride always wanted him to do, but could not get him to do, etc... watever it is, do something that has meaning to them.
i tink they will thank you for that... : ) -

Don't listen to the girls of making men's life too difficult.

hehe as i posted in the other thread for a change go and torture the bride, its somethign new and refreshing and i bet you its original.
P.S. yeah i'm a guy who wants to break the tradition so i wont be tortured next time -

last time my friend marry, the wife's side "tekan" my friend for more money...
then came the ulitimate part...
Ask him to drink & eat something...Mayb u can also use this as ur idea..But may not turn out good as my friend jus scold them & go block downstairs smoke...chit chat for 1 hour then go up...
They are a packet of coffee powder & 1 bottle of cooking oil...how's tat for u to te-kan the bride groom. -

seriously, don't really really tekan the groom..... unless the bride wants to.
use the opportunity to help the couple come together as a married unity instead.... ask him to compose a poem of love or write a short letter etc... and tie in some elements like auctioning with you for stamps to "post" the letter to the bride .... (in this way, you can get your well-deserved ang pao looi too)!
doing it tis way may be better as after that the couple have at least 1 love letter/ poem between them and they have you to thank for!!!
