Haze in high end of Moderate range expected on Friday: NEA
SINGAPORE: Haze conditions in Singapore further eased on Thursday (Sep 17) as prevailing winds continued to blow from the southeast, the National Environment Agency (NEA) said in an advisory.
Readings for the 24-hour Pollutant stayed in the Moderate range for much of Thursday, snapping four whole days of Unhealthy levels of haze.
NEA said while there has been a reduction in the extent of haze over central and southern Sumatra, some haze from Kalimantan has spread westward to the South China Sea, in the east of Singapore.
"For tomorrow, the prevailing winds are forecast to blow from the east or southeast. Occasional hazy conditions can be expected if unfavourable winds blow in haze from the surrounding region. The 24-hour PSI for the next 24 hours is expected to be in the high end of the Moderate range and the low end of the Unhealthy range," NEA said.

SINGAPORE: Haze conditions in Singapore deteriorated on Friday afternoon (Sep 18) due to haze being blown in by prevailing winds.

It added that 256 hotspots were detected in Sumatra today and moderate to dense haze was observed in southern and central Sumatra.
As of 9pm, air quality in Singapore remained in the Moderate range, with the 3-hour PSI coming in at 122 and the 24-hour PSI ranging from 80-94.
"For the rest of the day, the current hazy conditions are expected to persist, and may deteriorate slightly if denser haze is blown in. For tomorrow, the prevailing winds are forecast to blow from the northeast or east. Occasional hazy conditions can still be expected," NEA said, adding that the 24-hour PSI is expected to fluctuate between the high end of the Moderate range and the low end of the Unhealthy range till Sunday.

Occasional hazy conditions expected to persist on Monday: NEA
SINGAPORE: Hazy conditions are expected to persist on Monday (Sep 21), with the 24-hour Pollutant Standards Index (PSI) for the next 24 hours at the high end of the Moderate range and the low end of the Unhealthy range.
In an advisory, the National Environment Agency (NEA) said the slightly hazy conditions that were observed on Sunday were due to the haze from Kalimantan, which has continued to spread southwest.
NEA added that the prevailing winds are expected to blow from the southeast or south on Monday, and thunderstorms are also forecast for some areas of Singapore in the afternoon.
Given the air quality forecast for the next 24 hours, the agency advised that healthy persons should reduce prolonged or strenuous outdoor physical exertion, while the elderly, pregnant women and children should minimise such activities. Those with chronic lung or heart disease should avoid it completely.
At about 7pm, the 3-hour PSI was 75, while the 24-hour PSI was 75-88 in the Moderate range.
