SINGAPOREAN FRUSTRATED WITH BAD SERVICE PROVIDED BY FILIPINO WORKERS AT CHANGI AIRPORT
Dear Sir/Mdm,
On 8 June 2014 at about 1800hrs, I called Changi Airport Passengers Meeting Service (65439297) to book their service.
A man with a foreign accent answered the call.
I asked him if he received my email and he acknowledged.
He told me to come down personally 2 hours before flight landing to make cash payment.
I asked if I could pay when I come to receive the guest, as I didn’t want to make 2 trips.
He told me if I want to use their service, I must come down to pay.
Again, I explained to him that the payment is not an issue and I only want to know if there is another alternative.
He started to raise his voice and told me if we Singaporeans got no cash, why do we still book their service?
At this point of time, I got very angry because as this man is working in a service sector at the best airport in the world.
How could he provides a customer this kind of rude service?
I asked to talk to the manager and he said he is the manager and the boss there.
I asked for his name and he said to me, “You want to complain, do go ahead. My name is Roan, I spell for you R-O-A-N.” (If I’m not wrong.)
I asked him which country he’s from as he didn’t sound like a Singaporean.
He replied, “Phillipines lah, You got a problem with that.”
With that, he hung up the phone.
I tried calling back a few times but no one answered.
After a while, I managed to call back and talked to the manager, Mr Ernie (I hope I spelt it correctly).
He is also a Filipino.
I explained to him about the situation.
Why is that guy so rude and even challenged me to lodge a compliant?
What is happening to Singapore?
Few weeks back, we had an Indian national manager who was very rude to the guest (was out in Facebook), and now this happened.
Is this the standard of service we expect from Changi Airport?
If we want to stay as the best airport in the world, first we have to do something with this kind of service.
I’m disappointed to be in my own country and scolded by foreigners.
Hope I get a reply soon.
Thanks and regards,
Mohamed Ali
How dare the foreigners remain rude to SIngaporeans.Only the singaporeans have the right to be rude to foreigners.
SINGAPORE: The Philippine embassy in Singapore has asked the Singapore Government to hold a blogger accountable for a blog post that encourages Singaporeans to show intolerance for Filipinos. The post on the blog "Blood Stained Singapore" offered pointers on how Singaporeans can show displeasure with Filipinos without breaking the law. It has been widely circulated on social media, with many people flagging it as racist and offensive.
A statement on the website of the Philippine embassy in Singapore on Tuesday (June 17) says it immediately communicated to the Singapore Government that appropriate action should be taken against the blogger in accordance with the law.
Police confirmed that reports have been lodged in connection with the blog. A spokesperson said that investigations are ongoing, but offered no further details.
The statement from the Philippine embassy in Singapore said it believes the views of the blogger do not reflect the general beliefs of people in Singapore. The embassy also advised Filipinos not to stoop to the level of the blogger by responding in kind, as the blogger "clearly intends to create friction". And it encouraged Filipinos here to continue their good work to enhance Philippine-Singapore relations.
The original blog post in question, dated May 24, appeared to be taken down, but was republished on Monday (June 16).
The posts appear to violate the terms of blog-publishing service Blogger. A statement on the Google-owned platform says "material that promotes hatred toward groups based on race or ethnic origin" is not allowed on Blogger.

So far my service experiences with pinoys are good. One particular pinoy lady in a call centre of a internet service provider was especially patient with me and helpful thoughout our 30 mins long phone call, I was calling on behalf of my ex-company on certain network issues.
pinoys are quite nice ppl. Be nice to them, they'll be nice to you.
yup correct

Yes, of course you are against singaporeans through your sacarsm, you arrogant self centred elite.
My experience is majority provide good service. The ones that pissed me off are those pinoy customer service staff from UOB credit card service centre and some pinoys at work. There is this pinoy at work is damn arrogant and super temperamental. Work overtime when boss is around, so fake. Those sicko pinoy at UOB very lazy. They try their best not to be helpful as compared to our local staff from same . Then these uob pinoys lie to me on service which they are providing. When I am fed up I tell them their accent is terrible .... so much so their english pronunciation is real bad to the extent we can't understand.
I am a half-British, half Filipino living in the Philippines. I have noticed that Singaporeans are always mad at us... Have you lost your mind? Don't make me say this, but your story is stupid and "fake" Filipinos don't say the word "lah" to every sentence they say! Only Singaporeans do that! Singaporeans always include the world "lah".. Filipinos speak better english so they will never do that! How dare you belittle Filipinos? You are bunch of insecure people who are freakin' scared because you cannot believe that people coming from the 3rd world country can actually beat you in landing good jobs!

Agreed.Singaporeans are angry at everyone including themselves. It was against Chinese for a while, then Malays, shifted to Indians and next Pinoys. Way to go!
Why are Singaporeans like that? They come from the 1st world country, so what's with the insecurities?
I share your sentiments guys

You don't need be hypocrite to sound "nice" to be nasty. You are crappy. I have many filippino friends 9 out of 10 speak english with very strong filippino accent, there is no trace of americanised english, think in your hallucination it is americanised.

You living in delusion...... spore is not first world. The only first world is spore underperforming govt receiving first world pay.
You are a Singaporean, how come you do not know that your country is one of the few 1st world countries in Asia? Have you been to the Philippines? How can you differ a Filipino accent from the Americanised? I don't you think you know what you are talking about man! Watch American series and listen to their accent and compare it to Filipino and Singaporean accents. You will know that our accent is closer to the Americans. BTW, I don't trust your judgements here. You can't even "speak" good english yourself. I am going to bet my life, Filipinos will have a high passing rate on IELTS that Singaporeans.. I am also part singaporean since my mom is half Brit, half singaporean. But I am not agreeing on what Singaporeans are to doing to foreigners.
more good years ahead
