Instead of asking "Why can't boys continue to wear shorts when they are in upper sec?", why not ask "Why can't every boy and girl all wear shirt and shorts?"
So why not just standardise the uniform, across both genders and the different age groups?
Everyone all wear shirt and pants, from Nursery to K2, from P1 to P6, from Sec 1 to O level, from Yr1 to Yr2/3 of ITE/Poly/JC.
If like that, next time boys also have to make sure their shorts covers their knee cap and you will start to see everything going back to how it was in the past, when people wore clothes that are bigger than themselves.
personally, I think it is better this way.
after all, in a workplace where uniform is provided (eg. petrol station, supermarket, MRT station, bus interchange, etc.), everyone wears the same uniform, regardless of gender or age. so why not have the students wear the same uniform in school?
This can inculcate the value of gender equality to the children right from young, so that they will respect each other when they grow up.
North korea philosophy?
No need standardise until like this la.
dd77, wat r u doing here?!?? hehehe

- I believe many girls wish that they could wear the shorts that boys wear, instead of wearing skirts.
- I believe many boys wish that they could continue to wear shorts even as they move on to upper sec.

- 1. feeling unbearable when wearing long pants would become a thing of the past for boys.
- 2. girls would feel more comfortable, since it takes courage to wear skirt, and they do not have to wear skirt anymore.
- 3. parents would feel more comfortable, since everything below is covered.

In a workplace where uniform is NOT provided,i see women go as far as wearing tank top/t shirt, miniskirt and slippers, yet every man is still literally in full formal,ie long sleeved shirt, long pants and shoes.I dont see any man dressed to an equivalent of what the women i mentioned dress to,ie polo t,shorts and sneakers. In fact occasionally ive seen women wear shorts underneath a cardigan top,but i havent seen a man done that. There are many guys out there who have done a good job in matching collar shirt with slimfit bermudas with shoes, seen on weekends in the public, yet i dont see that in the office either.
I believe much has to be done about this widespread disparity,if u seek equality.Companies have to decide whether they want to be rigid to uphold image,or laxed to allow staff more comfort, but it must be across the board, across gender most of all.
huh.....
if all same then no incentive go SAJC le leh

What is the reason behind it uniformity right. Polish their minds for uniformity not dresses.
my frens in CHS wanted long pants
but that was before global warming
yes. good idea
NO~!!! END OF
That will just be Boringgggg
good if it saves my parents money
uniforms these days oso nt cheap
Yes i would prefer it that way. Maybe I old school thinking..hehe
yea, cool
School is about teaching kids how to think and how to materialise their imagination and vision. So why inhibit that by enforcing such standards? Dress like this, arrive at this hour, do this?
I know, it teaches discipline, but it also gives birth to robots.
yeah, no rules.
and nobardie would be going to sch!
uniforms are convenient, to be honest. but no need to standardise until all levels wear exactly the same thing...
