On Tuesday the 13th of May 2013 my domestic maid by accident sustained a severe knife cut on her finger and she was bleeding quite profusely. I immediately told her to go to the GP who has a clinic next to my block in Bedok. After waiting for a short while the Doctor arrived. After briefly examining my maid, the Doctor then requested my maid to call me on her mobile phone which she did. The doctor then told me that I have got to send my maid to the A & E of any hospital as the wound would require stitches. The doctor did not give me any reason why he could not perform the stitching . I was then in my car somewhere in town and had to rush home to attend to the matter. I am indeed appalled by the doctor’s conduct. It was a medical emergency, surely he is trained and qualified to attend to my maid. If he can’t or won’t do it why is he then practicing as a doctor?
I would like to find out from the medical fraternity or anyone who can enlighten me:-
a) whether the doctor’s can refuse to treat my maid and is he in breach of any oath that he took to practice as a GP
b) Are there any circumstances a GP can justifiably refuse to attend to and treat a patient in a medical emergency
no equipment
Go find out if dr qualify to do it.
