When the missile hits, you will see a cloud of white smoke.

I prefer the old Singapore because now I am lost everytime I want to move around
It is ok, it is a matter of time you would be able to get around. When you are here just ask for the places, there will be people there able to guide you. For your info, there is no more Van Cleef Aquarium. Clarke Quay is now full of restaurants, more of a place for angmos to hang out.
I remember when the playgrounds had real sand.

Why, No fucking foreigners.
Absolutely! Bloody right! We used to be the only ones. Now any working class moronic euro-trash can just come in, and not to mention rowdy chink wogs from China who spit! Although that does remind me of the old Singapore, when the local SIngaporeans behaved EXACTLY like the Chinese PRCs, amazing what 20-30 years of decent living can do the savage.
Now in the MRT, i see too many foreigners. It's horrible sometimes. But what to do, they are here and they contribute; or rather we contribute. I certainly do.
=============
Another memory.
Did any of you know we ACTUALLY HAD decent beaches in Singapore? ECP was fabulous! White sandy beaches, clear water (up to 0.5 m) and with nice shell-like-water-snail creatures on the sand in the water, very nice to walk on. But then development firms built condominiums and reclaimed the sea-bed.
And it was fabulous at the time because VERY FEW people went to the beach, so there was enough beach for everyone.

Changi beach had the longest stretch and most people every weekend but driving the from the city took about 1 and half hour
Pyramid Game @ TCS 5.
Who remember?
Last time Marina Square got the indoor themepark.
Satay Club @ the current Esplanade.
Satay Club @ the old Sembawang Shopping Centre.
I remember Choon Seng restaurant at Pungol jetty, and when you could walk into one of the tracks leading off Pungol Rd and see miles and miles of forest, with parakeets and migratory birds everywhere...with wild tapioca, starfruit, etc, growing everywhere. Now it's become Sengkang Estate.
Also I remember Holland V when they had a Fitzpatricks in the shopping center there, and there was a Big Rooster restaurant at the corner, and there weren't so many yuppies around.
I could go to Changi Beach and catch batfish and small groupers, and there were so many horseshoe crabs swimming in the water that we caught them easily.
Back in the day, I could go kite flying on a large hill between Serangoon Gardens and Ang Mo Kio Ave 10, which is now the PIE expressway.
I could walk across Braddell Rd from my aunt's flat at Toa Payoh, to go to a water hyacinth farm in Bishan to catch fighting fish in the ponds.
Most sadly, I miss the restaurant "Chinatown" at the Imperial Hotel overlooking Fort Canning. They had an awesome ala carte buffet, and their Chinese pancake for dessert was the best ever.
Good thing these memories are all still in my head, because Singapore has changed so much.
