and I seldom advertise for blogs but this is perfect for those who are looking at old Singapore memories... Alot of old articles, photos and stuff written by quite an old aged writer... extremely interesting that I think all of you should go slowly browse thru all the entries...

Planet paradigm? I 'm not sure which area you talking about. Well, beside Plaza Singapura, there was this steep steps going to the top, we called it the 100 steps and once you reach at the top...there was this old St Margaret Girl School....and other landed houses and buildings....old NAFA students will know this place...because if they went for their courses...they either went through within PS and exited through the backdoor they would reach nearly the top part of the 100 steps and if its closed they had to walk-up the 100 steps....next to PS.. -

Previously was named Old School, but I think they are not closing off that place, or something I heard... It used to be a nice place to catch fireworks for me before they built SOTA that blocked off the view...

Yes, the top of the steps there was a terrace for you to walk and a place to sit down...its a perfect place to view some parts of the towns... Thanks for sharing the blog...during my time of gotong royong was in the 60s and 70s when I was still a little boy living in the kampong...after we shifted to hdb flats in early 70s...there weren't any gotong royong...

Anyone still remember the Bookworm gang and local magazines like young generation "新一代" (it still around): http://www.singaporememory.sg/contents/SMA-8cba1390-fd2e-4f47-b99e-baf04120bf0c There are some local publishing education company like EPB is no longer around and change to Marshall Cavendish.
Not to forget our own Singapore World Trade Center - RIP, it has changed and give way to Harbour front and Vivo city.

I'm was only born during the late the 80s
However, I had good memory of the place during the 90s and early 2000s...
Previously was looking for the "makeshift" hawker centre which used to occupy a carpark on what was either Orchard central or 313 now...

In the early 80s, I still remembered the Bookworm Club company at Selegie House. Their staffs would go around to primary schools to tell stories to the students there and sell their bookworm books to them. My girlfriend was working as a graphic artist for this company. I knew the husband and wife personally who owned this company. Most of the staffs knew me too because I used to fetch and waited for my girlfriend after work and after that we would go out somewhere in town. I don't know whether this is the same bookworm gang you're referring to. About world trade centre, I used to see my MNC clients in this building. -

Ah no wonder you don't know about the small coffee house within the park that was opposite plaza singapura...by the late 80s and early 90s that coffee house demolished...that place has changed quite abit. During the late 80s and early 90s in Singapore, I was already driving my own car too and hardly took public transport. In the 70s that place of orchard central now was a hawker area but in the 80s it was only a car park. -

You mean Silver Spoon but that coffee house was not in the centre of the park opposite Plaza Singapura. Silver Spoon was located at the end corner of Supreme House in penang road just next to the steps going up to fort canning. I can't remember the name of that coffee house in the park opposite PS. -

Yes...the blue colour cover passport for Singaporeans to use specifically when visited Malaysia. International passport is still red cover back then. Then we ended up having two passports...the blue colour passport and red colour passport..then in the early 90s...blue colour passport scrapped and now only one international passport. -
