  PETALING JAYA (Jan 2): Most Malaysians do not wish to become Singaporeans, survey said.

  A survey conducted by Oriental Daily News has shown that most Malaysians who either work in Singapore or have regular contact with Singaporeans do not wish to become Singaporeans.

  The vernacular newspaper who carried out the survey through Facebook and telephone interviews reported that 87% respondents said they had no intention to become citizens of the Republic and all they want was to earn 'Sing' dollars.

  80 out of the 100 respondents who responded to the questionnaire are Malaysians who either used to work in Singapore or working in Singapore, while 8 others are those who are working in Johor Bahru and having constant contact with Singaporeans. The rest are locals who come across Singaporeans once in a while.

  While an earlier survey showed that 56% Singaporeans wanted to migrate and most of them preferred to migrate to Malaysia, only 13 per cent of our citizens wish to become Singaporeans.

  The 87% said it was too stressful to live in Singapore, and that they love their motherland, Malaysia, deeply. For 22 of the respondents, high standard of living and strict housing policies of the reasons they find the island country unsuitable to live permanently.

  Another 21 respondents who are unwilling to renounce their citizenship for the Republic's stressed that they were proud to be Malaysians and had a deep affection for the country.

  However, they choose to work in Singapore in view of steep appreciation of Singapore Dollars against Malaysian Ringgit.

  On the other hand, those who wish to become Singaporeans are attracted by fairer and more open education policy, in addition to a sound public transit system and good public order as well as bigger room for personal growth.

  Malaysia too dangerous too many shooting cases thats why..their pay also very low..my cousin lecturer in uni only 4k rm sia
