Son is very rich. Driving a big car with special number plate. They have outlets in Tampines n AMK under Pao pao something. My mother likes to buy their salted chicken for my kids.

I don't think this is written by a Singaporean senior citzen.
They usually won't use the word, "fuck", never use the word "summer" to describle time (BTW we in one season country), we use metres instead of feet, we use "flats" instead of "apartments".
We were misled,... until summer.

I got a sadder story,
My Father-in-law helped (financially) renovate my Sister-in-law 5 room house.
She allowed him to stay in her house.
Then one day she asked for an air-con.
Since Father-in-law is already retired and wished to preserve his cash, he turn down the request.

He was kicked out of the house.
Ever since then, my wife has been taking care of him.
The irony is, he never loved my wife, always favouring her elder sister. (the one who kicked him out).
We never take a single cent from him, but always provide for him, but the other daughter took and took from him until he cannot give.
When my mother-in-law was sick and almost died, the sister-in-law never even visited her. Why the hatred so deep? After squeezing them dry.
Until now, he does not see the love from my wife instead treat her like an ATM machine. And still yearn for the other daughter to "talk" to him.
Sad hor, but its REEAL.

There is a saying that having an elder parent at home is the most previous gem in life-time. They can share their experience in bringing up your children and keeping a caring eye on their grown. Without my father who is now 88, I will not have a peaceful mind working and building my career. Thanks to my dad and Happy Father´s Day.
For those who are not treating their parents well, just remember your children may give you similar treatment when you get old..
