Thirty years ago when Malaysians and Singaporeans told me that statement that Malaysia don't need Singapore to survive whereas Singapore need Malaysia to survive, I would definitely disagree because being young and ignorant, as a Singaporean I would rebut that statement strongly. Now, I begin to agree with that statement thirty years later.

No, I'm not trying to do that. Its my conclusion. One thing though, Singapore is now what it is because of LKY personal ambitions and grudges with the Malaysian leaders in the past to proof that Singapore can survive without Malaysia and can be better. However, now you can see majority of the Singaporeans are sufferring due to his obsession to make Singapore number one. Now the current relationship between Singapore and Malaysia leaders has improved, again what is going to happen to Singapore down the road 10,20 and 30 years ahead if there is no cooperation from Malaysia. Can Singapore really survive without Malaysia?

May you can elaborate more and quote reliable sources on the claims in bold.what were his ambitions and what grudges between the leaders?
In my opinion it was some differences that lead to LKY make alternate solutions.
As for present, many singaporeas are unhappy with the white paper and is his son;s creation not his creation.
10,20,30 years down the road anything can happen. what malaysia and singapore wil do is do our best to corporate and work together on grounds that benefit both parties.
as for singapore we will always be working on self substaining our own water and manage our economy.
within singapore now is the problem with popualtion.
what we need is to rebuild our own native singaporeans (malays, minority, indians and chinese, and maintain minor healthy number of new citiznes and PR) and maintain foreign populatio (labors and talents) at healthy level.
we also need to really work on the white paper as it is not logical to have such a high population of foreigners that cannot be used alone as factor to contribute to the labor and service we now look to on productivity andcreativity, instead of cost alone without quality.

Are you trying to attract flame wars? Singaporeans is Malaysians biggest source of tourist, and we spend our money there. We contribute, vice-versa, to each other economies.

Singaporeans need not just Malaysia.............but the rest of the globe to financially support them, trade with them and well..........pick up after the things the locals are either too dumb or too lazy to do.

If you people want to be shielded from all the FT and competition, then this is the only viable option.
For those who think we can "slow down" and still "live a comfy life", I think you should stop day-dreaming. The ratrace@SG of today is no consequence of PAP or whatever. Its the consequence of having to need to "stay competitive".
