SINGAPORE:
Singapore's Health Promotion Board (HPB) has introduced a new
promotional bus called Health on Wheels, catering specifically to
children and their parents.
Deputy Prime Minister Tharman
Shanmugaratnam, who is also Member of Parliament (MP) for Jurong Group
Representation Constituency (GRC), launched the bus at the
constituency's Family Wellness Day.
He described it as a good idea to reach out to the people.
The bus will give children and parents healthy lifestyle tips through interactive and engaging activities.
HPB said the aim is to reach out to 50,000 people this year.
By 2015, there will be four buses to reach to all pre-schools, primary schools and community clubs.
Saturday's
event at Taman Jurong Community Club also saw the launch of a
multi-generational health promotion programme themed "Staying Healthy
Together as a Family".
The constituency said it is a timely
initiative, especially when eight in 10 households comprise a family
nucleus of at least two generations.
