  U miss out one point, china being a big country, they have tier 1 cities all the way up to tier 3. The cost of living between different cities in big. Many working in Beijing will end up retired in their hometown which is might just be half the cost or more. This apply similar in most countries.

  Only idiots use the salary of Singapore to compare the living standards of Switzerland. If you are Indonesian, you will still be happy because prices in Switzerland is expensive whereas it's cheap in Indonesia.

   

  You should be using the salary of Switzerland to compare against the cost of living in Switzerland.

   

  Also use the GDP per capita to compare the wage levels.
