some contractors can play dirty, have money also dun want pay. Contractors some can be crook, bloody those who provide bad service and treat customers like dirt. ken-pal. MOM needs to step in to check the financial status of the company.

If the Ministry of Manpower is not going to help them, they have the right to strike.
Fuck those Singapore laws!
If they can't protect the weak ones, why still follow them.
They should strike!
i dont think the term 'on strike' is appropriate here. The phrase 'refusal to start work' is enough. owe 4 bloody mother fukin mounts salary?! come on no marnie pay people wanna be boss? go suck his father's cock lah!
This case have set precedence for more refusal to work case.
When they refuse to work, immediate actions is taken and receive pay by the end of the day.
Faster than going through proper channel.
Cheaper to Employ, Faster to refuse to work, Better pay up their salary !!!!
Yishun worksite pay dispute resolved
SINGAPORE: The Migrant Workers' Centre said a favourable resolution has been achieved in the salary dispute involving foreign workers at a construction site in Yishun.
This follows a meeting at the Manpower Ministry (MOM) on Wednesday at 4:00pm, where the four foreign workers met with their employer and a MOM case officer.
The employer agreed to pay all outstanding salaries to the workers.
The employer also paid for their return air tickets, after the workers indicated they wanted to return home.
The workers will leave for China on Thursday afternoon.
Until their departure, the Migrant Workers' Centre said it will continue to house them at arranged dormitories.
With this issue settled, the Centre said there are no more worker claims from this case.
It also urged foreign workers in distress not to take matters into their own hands.
They should instead approach MOM, the Centre itself or any other migrant help groups for assistance.

good for them.
hahahaha, they may not want return to sg for work any more. Sure back to India and China they will tell their true stories and there goes the bad name for the country.

Usually when workers have problems, they will bring it up to their superior. And when there is no action taken, then only will they vent their frustrations in "their own ways"
MOM, Corporate Managers and Ministers keep on bragging about "Open Channels of Communications"
The problem is not "Open Channels of Communications".
The problem is this very same people do not tend to the issues that was brought up to them.
At the end of the day, the workers will lose out because the rules are tweaked to guarantee that they will become a loser.

MOM - that refect how the government is today. Put up a lot of things say so many but .... in the end they ownself fall short of it.
Open channels of communications ? What is there to communicate - the employment act is clear - pay up salaries by ....certain date !!! Nothing to talk about - if employer no money - they should be ask to stop all work & face the court !!! - If they cannot pay - still let them carry on work , people die or injuried - they also no money to pay !!!!
This is the clear vision of 1st class governing !!!
cheaper better faster.
what else is new ???????

Congratulatons to those workers who put down their tools and refused to work. In countries such as Australia - our work history is such that people had to become 'organised', unionised and have the courage to do what it takes to stand up for their rights.
It takes a 'groundswell' to create the type of change that must occur when it comes to foreign workers beng exploited. It is also usually when people experience althe pain that they are prepared to experience, that they take such drastic acton - it is a credit to those who have gone before them , in whichever country you choose, to become united, organise and become "one voice" and stand up for yourself.
I support those who help themselevs, and I support those who need a compassionate hand.
Exploitation occurs everywhere (and yes, even in Australia), and just because it happens everywhere does not make it OK.
MM from Australia, visiting Sg, personally aware of Bangladeshi constructon workers who are being blatabtly exploited and ripped off by recruitment agencues and ther employers
