Ah…China town and Toa Payoh. It was way back then when Singapore was still lively though there were many problems face by the Singapore Government but people could still smile. I still remember my kampong days very clearly and I was quite naughty but I had a good childhood…and I think you too had a good childhood. Good. Now, lets have a chat like old times ya…lets go to the coffeshop and talk over kopi or teh…ya. Ok Clive, what would you like to have…kopi or kopi o and what would like to eat. I’ll have kopi and toast bread with butter and 2 half boil eggs. Don’t worry…my treat…and of course all this takes us to our good old days in Singapore and of course it happens within our mind now….hehe..good scenario to have a good talk like the kampong days. While..waiting for our orders to come…why not talk alittle bit here. I see Singapore like a small kampong too. I like to see like this…we are a part of Malaya kampong and then we were left alone to make our own living. So we need to do something right. Ok, simple similitude. See Singapore as a Kampong and then later its no longer a Kampong because we started to live in brick homes. Ok, let see Singapore like a HDB flat. Small and limited. How you make life in a HDB flat better?

Does it matter anymore? This country is worst than the during the divisive eras of the 1950s but back then at least the rich are still involve in social responsibilty. Now the rich are foreigners who has no interest in the country. They are in for the $$ part. Sorry this is the sad part a lot of Singaporeans fail to accept. GDP at all cost.

Hmmm...we have gone through all the major recessions Singapore had gone through...what we have Clive? So you retired at age 42 eh...are you happy now in Singapore? -

Lots of sun and fun. Stop scuba but still snorkel once in awhile; jungle trekking and mountain climbing when I was much younger, no more now.
I'm a lot more active than many youngsters nowadays.

I was much more active when I was younger too, an outdoor person too like you, during my school days and Army days, especially before marriage. Love to swim in the sea or swimming pool and suntanned. Soccer, air rifle shooting, judo, camping, jogging, hiking and cycling during my school days. Now just swim once in awhile, jogging & walking in the early morning or evening and gardening. -

I don't do much gardening as my cats habitually destroy those seedlings.

Put pebbles or granite stones around the seeds you've just sown or around your plants., the cats will not shit there afterthat. Gardening for me is quite relaxing...

A recession is not singapore's fault. Every country has recessions, even the best like Norway and Sweden...you can't blame the government for the recession. By that reasoning, every government in the world should have been axed ages ago.
