I AM surprised by the amount of public funding for the National Day Parade ("National Day Parade costs rise to $17.2m"; Tuesday).
Why was there a need for so many rehearsals? A glitch is all right, especially when we now believe it is okay to make mistakes as long as we learn from them.
I am also curious to know why the cost of fireworks and ammunition was not mentioned. Were they really necessary during rehearsals?
Each year, there are too many man-hours lost in the rehearsals, which blunt the excitement of the actual Parade itself.
