The platform crowd controllers clap their paddles telling you to line up within the boundarylines drawn on the platform, so that passengers can alight first. The trains come in within a minute of each other-one leaving the next one arrives! Efficient super clock work!- that is how the MTR functions in Hongkong. We pack in body to body stacked together, catching our breaths from air pockets of space here and there as the train rushes us through to reach our destination.
Two stops later on the Chai Wan line and you are at Causeway Bay. to meet a few ex-colleagues for a couple of drinks .The small bar is packed but you are just killing time -whilst you wait again in line for dinner at super Star Seafood on the 10th floor of Times Square. You have been booked for the 7.30 dinner and you arrive at 7.28, though with booking you wait till 8.30 before you get your table with 4 friends who flew in earlier from Singapore.
They complain:” so hot! so hot! aiyo why so many people , why must wait when we already booked? why so slow? ...why so many people queueing to get in ? ” You feel like telling them …” grumble grumble grumble all the time so Singaporean why can’t be patient and just shut up?” You are tired after a hard day’s work at IFC but still manage a weak smile to be polite…they are friends afterall…
After two hours of hearing your Singaporean friends grumble and complain about the population and too many foreigners in Singapore etc…you are bored with their grumbles…you wanna get home …away from them as soon as possible. Next week, another batch of old classmates visiting you and worse want to stay with you at your apartment! Maybe this group might not grumble so much about Singapore and instead enjoy HK!
Likely is intoxicated by politicans or some folks in sg who loves to stir up or provoke stance. Many political officials previously loves provocation and engagement, too good life, so they passed sg this 'invaluable' know-how probably, but you are abit unfortunate to meet this particular one that was intoxicated deeply. The best is to recommend Pureland to them, that place has no way they would erupt discomforting senses
