HOW was the illegal overstayer mentioned in last Saturday's report ('Man assaulted Cisco officer') able to stay in Singapore for more than six years unnoticed?
As it was reported that he worked illegally as a putty layer, he must have been employed by a contractor or sub-contractor at some construction site. How was he able to enter and exit from such sites where one sees signs warning that illegal workers are not allowed inside? He must have been paid for his work, and he must have remitted the money, for which he would have to provide some documentation.
Will the contractors be identified and summoned for employing an illegal overstayer?
