Central CDC needy residents to get aid boost

SINGAPORE: The Central Singapore Community Development Council (CDC) will set aside S$1 million over the next three years to help needy residents.
The money will be made available to 87 family service centres, seniors activity centres, grassroots organisations and community self-help groups, which are the CDC's partners under its ComCare Local Network programme.
Central Singapore district mayor Sam Tan announced this on Saturday at the programme's fifth anniversary celebration.
The money will be parked under existing funding initiatives such as the FSC Discretionary Fund, SMRT Gift of Mobility Fund, the Enabling Fund for VWOs, Community Fair Fund and Project Link Fund.
Help agencies can tap on the fund to provide temporary financial assistance and transport subsidies to needy residents, develop new programmes to help the needy and organise community fairs to promote their services.
