SINGAPORE: A former car sales executive was sentenced to 15 months' jail for misappropriating S$241,655.24 from his employer.
39-year-old Hee Wan Pin admitted to stealing money from his then employer Auto France, from July 2009 to February 2010.
Hee
was at that time responsible for selling new cars at Auto France and he
was expected to help his clients sell their existing cars to used car
dealers.
Proceeds from the sale of the used cars would then be used as payment towards the new car.
But on six occasions, Hee used the money to foot his personal credit card bills instead.
The prosecution proceeded on three of the six charges.
In
sentencing, the district judge noted that Hee had no antecedents and
that he had returned the company S$100,000 as restitution.
As such, the judge slapped him with a 15-month jail term.
For criminal breach of trust, Hee could have been jailed up to 15 years and fined.
