MY WIFE was attacked by monkeys on Wednesday while she was crossing the overhead bridge from MacRitchie Reservoir to reach home.
One crept up behind her and ripped apart the plastic bag of groceries she was carrying which emboldened the rest to seek out her handbag and try to pry more items off her.
She almost fell when she tried to escape. My wife is six months pregnant, so imagine the consequences had she been seriously hurt.
This was not the first time she was hounded by such brazen monkeys who have made food forays into our estate.
I urge the Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority and the National Parks Board to take urgent action to cull the population of monkeys in Singapore as they no longer seem to fear people, and have become a nuisance.
I have seen monkeys use the overhead bridges to cross over an otherwise busy Lornie Road to get to housing estates opposite MacRitchie Reservoir, presumably in search of food.

I urge the AVA and the Nparks to educate the people who often foray near the habitat of the monkeys and have become a nuisance to themselves.
This is not the first time the people complain of the monkeys, and it seems they don't learn from past experiences.
I have seen people use the overhead bridges to cross over to the nature reserve and feed the monkeys from their plastic bags. The monkeys know that the bags contain goodies and get excited when they see a bag, just like the humans over the NDP goodie bag.
One AVA or Npark officer seen issuing summons to people feeding the monkeys would scare the rest of the humans away.
I believe the humans are suppose to be more intelligent than the monkeys.
why will anybody with brains allow his 6 month pregnant wife to go out shopping for groceries?
should have put those cans with a spring snake in it..so monkey opens can the spring snake pops outa can.,damn..u folks can really play with monkieys for free entertainment in spore.
why not use those glue traps with food on it to trape the monkeys?
oh than the spca will come and say we are torturing animals

He didn't know there are monkeys around.
Low crime does not mean no crime.
I think if be buys a house in Geylang, or Little India he will be shocked and complain to the authorities.
should arrest the monkeys and sent them to jail for robbery?

Must identify the correct monkey, otherwise there will be a miscarriage of justice.
