I RECEIVED a phone call last week from a man claiming to be from Windows Microsoft Security who told me that he was monitoring my computer and found it compromised by spyware and viruses.
Assuming that he would correct the problem, I allowed him to log into my computer.
He then introduced an 'engineer' and 'senior engineer' to talk to me. He then showed me on the screen that my computer had been badly infected by viruses.
But when he showed me a page where I had to purchase by credit card his anti-virus software, I smelled a fraud.
I told him I had no credit card or ATM card but would like to pay by cash and asked for the address of his office or shop.
He gave the address but told me that I could not enter the office.
But when I tried to shut down my computer I could not because it was logged into his. Finally, I turned off the power to shut my computer.
I am writing in to warn fellow computer users about such conmen.

since when MS got such good service for personal users
i think he shd reverse-hack.
please let everfyone her eknow tghe number lah, and the names they claim they were. then we can call the number and play play have fun
Microsoft has only developed 2 windows security apps. 1 of them is corporate, and the other for home users is free(installable only if your copy of windows is verified).
1) MS Forefront Endpoint Protection
2) MS Home Essentials
This is one type of scam.
Another type is they call and say MS detected your PC is infected, then proceed to help you:
The other one is saying they have an office here, but when you check, that office is bogus. Another type is they give a real office number belonging to another company, and when you call, they say no such services offered.
Most of the scams are from India or those people have Indian accents. There are some from China, but quite rare.
that's why i say giv number here. then give the numebr to microsoft tell them go investigate. someone using their name to con

Microsoft is aware of this issue.
Microsoft has actually ended partnership with one Indian company after some investigation.

I doubt if this is useful, but there are some numbers there. Read through the comments also. Some posters posted the numbers. If you see any of those numbers, ignore the call.
Basically, unless you are expecting overseas call, ignore all overseas calls. If possible, block it. Android phones have the capability with an app, iPhone I don't know.

not only this, just beware of allother things alo. things you sell, esp hard disks and memory cards the like. all even if erased data can be retrieved with software. so next time think twice. last time i ever sell one brand new memory card at near retail seeling price, and people still wanna buy it. eneded up meet is a china guy, when he sees a new one in original packaging he very disapponinted. when i sell my hard disk also, i reqrite it many times with my sving private ryan movies be4 selling.
Damn scary.
