if you notice almost every developed nation on the planet has fewer children..
this is a natural progression as people want quality of life for their children and would rather concentrate their resources to give their one or two children the best possible...
whereas in places where children are seen as more future hands to help with the daily running and struggle to feed the family, they have more..
it is not solely about rising costs or whatever, it is just a natural progression now that we have access to advances in medicine, education and an opportunity to let our children be more than we can dream of...

CKS was concerned of his economic indices falling into places.

no, housing price will shot up like crazy, even if the war did not occur in singapore.

Population is growing too fast. Economic and ecology move in opposite direction. When the ecology start to collapse and fail, that's the end.

since our gahmen so rich (can pay super high salary wor!) and so concerned about population declining, they can go to the poorer province in China and buy some babies over every now and then. And then, build orphanages to raise these kids and educate them to work for gahmen. also can shun bian cultivate their loyalty toward the gahmen party.
This is a better investment with higher ROI than anything else. Telling us to accept immgration policy and risk bringing in all kinds of social problems (last time got dirty massage parlour in HDB estates, and the PDMM with fake IDs, what else?), doesn't work at all. We're educated liao... no longer kampong industrial workers kind of IQ. Giving us incentives to have more babies... erhmm... actually in many other countries, better incentives are given. Ours cannot compare, sad hor, esp when we have the highest ministerial pay but not the best incentive for the ppl to help the population grow.
So the gahmen shld just divert their strategy to importing babies.

what do you think they've been doing with the immigration policies?

our immigration policy takes in grown ups who are here to snatch our ricebowls. my suggestion here only take in babies only. babies we can brainwash and make them obey our gahmen and follow our laws (I wish!). This way can also help the poorest PRCs (yes, there are still farmers, peasants living in mountains, villages and have not seen RMB in their whole life). Can also help pull up the declining chinese population which is the main concern of the gahmen.

why have one baby when you can have two parents (who add to the GDP) and a baby?

we cannot teach old dogs new tricks, and therefore we cannot teach the parents to be loyal to the country. If they can abandon their home country to come here, they can abandon our country once this place is of no use to them. they come here, make some money from job & buying & selling of properties (thank you to them that our flats and condos are so ex now) and fly off to a better pasture & retire there. we are only left with the the less educated ones, and very few good ones who have some weird reasons to stay here (eg Jet Li and Gong Li).
babies can brainwash. 21 years later, they will be the ardent voters for the MIW, cuz this will be already programme into their brains when they were young. I learnt this from all the TVB series. ... haha
