An elderly woman is in a coma after falling down on an SMRT bus, reported Channel NewsAsia.
Ding was with her daughter at Orchard Road near the Heeren on Sunday night when they both boarded bus service 164.
While on the bus, the bus captain suddenly jammed the brakes, causing the 54-year-old Ding to lose her footing and fall. She then hit her head on a seat and fell unconscious. It’s believed she fractured her skull during the fall.
She was sent to the Singapore General Hospital where an operation was performed to stop the internal bleeding in her brain. She is still in critical condition.
Her family plans to lodge a complaint against the bus captain.
"I was so scared and panicked, I did not know what to do. I kept calling for her, but there was no response,” said Ding’s daughter.
“She was fine in the afternoon, she was shopping, and now she is in this state," Ding's daughter told Channel NewAsia.
When Yahoo! Singapore contacted the transport operator, a spokesperson from SMRT said, "“We are sorry the incident happened and investigations are on-going. We will be in touch with the family to show our concern."
Finally, finally it happened. I was concerned this will happen, finally happened. Gosh@!
On the bus, I witnessed how reckless the driving of the bus captains are . A couple of times saw old people nearly fall because of the driving of the drivers. Once I approached a driver politely to request for safe driving, he was offended. From then on, I rest my case.
The woman can sue the SMRT, go ahead, I fully support.
Damn the transport companies here only are interested to make profits , safety for commuters is not their concern. Damn it!
it also happens on SBST bus
