A polytechnic lecturer who collapsed in school on Monday has died.
Jacqueline Ho, in her 40s, a lecturer in Singapore Polytechnic’s (SP) School of Architecture & the Built Environment, was found on the floor along the corridor outside her office at about 11am on Monday after having suffered a heart attack, wrote The New Paper (TNP).
The report said that the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) responded to a call at 11:06am and, upon arrival nine minutes later, found that Ho had no pulse and was not breathing. They then used an automated external defibrillator on her and took her to the National University Hospital (NUH) while giving her cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) along the way.
The former glass painting instructor died in NUH soon after.
An SP spokesperson told Yahoo! Singapore, “Jacqueline as we know her was a very dedicated staff, passionate in her work, always bubbly and cheerful. She was popular and well liked by both her colleagues and students. Although her time with us was short, she has left us with many happy memories and made an indelible imprint upon those whose lives she touched.”
Condolence messages were also found on social networking sites Facebook and Twitter.
Soh Chee Meng said on Singapore Polytechnic’s Facebook page, “I will always remember Jac as the fun loving, jovial and yet accommodating person.”
Manfred Loh added on the same page, “Jacqueline Ho has been such a wonderful and dedicated lecturer. She was more than that. She’s also a friend. Even for modules that are not taught by her, she would help us improve on the powerpoint slides and presentation.”
@jemlwt, who gave his tribute to her on Twitter, said, “RIP Ms Jacqueline Ho. I will always remember you as a free spirited and fun loving lecturer.”
Coincidentally, Ho was in charge of the students who spent seven months planning for the Halloween Horrors event at Night Safari before it got canned, wrote TNP.

over passionate and over commitment to job and colleagues is unhealthy...even though one may love it so much....putting too much expectations on oneself esp. .....
there may be history of family related heart diseases, but healthy work life balance is the message which requires companies to truly enforce.....mandatory leave, no OT and immediate supervisors should monitor closely on the health of employees....
MOM shd step up enforcement of such policy on companies....

If they take the effort to publish every single one of those deaths in the paper, it would look like it is dangerous to go out there.
Everyone would wonder if they would be next.
Forget wrong statics
Nvm, still if every death is reported, the scenario would look gloomy.
But must look out if there is a trend starting of younger women getting heart attacks.
Women are less less likely to suffer heart attacks. Especially below menopause age. Above menopause then cardiac disease start to set in, so any heart attack should be well after menopause age.
In men, the median heart attack age was above 55 years decades ago, and then it began creeping forward to 40 years, then education on cardiac disease was promoted, and this halted the men from droping dead from heart attacks.
