I AGREE with Mr Sudhir Murthy ("Renovation anarchy in condos"; last Saturday).
It is about time renovations in all apartments, be it condominiums or HDB flats, were regulated with a specified timeframe and stipulations as to when noisy work can be carried out.
It's not only deafening and stressful to everyone but also points to a selfish culture where others' peace and tranquillity are not respected.
Everyone is entitled to peace and quiet, especially in Singapore where most of us are not so fortunate as to afford to buy bungalows.

You prefer the contractor to use a heavy duty hammer drill with a tremendously deafenning noise for one day or two days.
OR
Use a chisel and mallet and chip, chip, chip chip all day long for two weeks.
I think that cannot be help right?
Especially supposing your next door neighour wanted to change their floor tiles, renovation contractors need to hack right?

Is he trying to say something with his last paragraph?
the condo i m staying has by laws as enacted under MCST which is recognized as legal and enforceable...
strata living guidelines are important towards self managed harmony within each private estate...which is the core objective of all MCSTs
surely HDB and condo has different guidelines and vested interests...
but that doesn't mean u pay much more for condo means u live like a demanding tyrant...in fact it is more restrictive as compared to HDB....
really empathize with the property manager and selfless council members who contribute so much yet getting so little accolades save the nonsense of some unruly residents flooding their mailbox...
