MY FAMILY and I took part in the Pink Ribbon Walk last Saturday. The event was well managed and enjoyable.
The weather was fine and breezy and children were treated to balloons at the start of the walk.
A number of these balloons, however, were released into the air for fun by the innocent children while some others slipped away from their fingers. By the time we came to the finishing point, the balloons were no longer flying high. They had dropped into the Marina Reservoir a distance away.
Balloons are non-biodegradable and may contain toxic material that are damaging to the life that the water holds.
I hope the relevant authorities will look into this matter and regulate the giving out of free balloons at mass events. Participants should also be advised not to release the balloons indiscriminately.
Littering is bad, and this is environmentally damaging.

Yeah, no balloons, have fireworks instead!
There many events world wide that release thousands of balloons into the air.
These balloons come down to the oceans and end up in the stomach of whales and other sea creatures, and make them sick.
That is well known, but it still continues.
our kids will grow up without 童年.....................
another caucasian?

Let's take a step backwards into the caveman era to save the environment~~~

exactly... creating awareness is one thing, but do u really need to regulate every single thing that will cause environmental damage like plastic bag, balloon??? Like tat jin jialat sia...
When there are children around the events, there will be ballons store, it will make the children happy to stay longer in the events.
Imagine the event without any ballons to give away, without any pop corns to give away, only strictly for adults, no loud music, the events will be very boring.
Mr.Loy,
If you did not exist that would save about 35 tonnes of food(do you know how many lives that is in a Chicken lover country?)250KG of paper(how many tress it is?) and so on.
Rogue balloons not so bad - renegade balloons lagi jialat, but ultra-turncoat mercenary terrorist ballons are really bad news.
My one and only fear. Balloons.
why is it called rogue balloon or what is a rogue balloon? i googled but cant find a good explanation.
Try "rogue definition".
