UPDATE
Police have found a body, believed to be that of the Singaporean man who fell overboard a ship on Monday, in the waters off East Coast Park yesterday afternoon.
A spokesperson for the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) said in a statement late last night that the body is believed to be that of 26-year-old shipping agent Mohammad Aidil.
Aidil, who worked for Aegean Shipping Service, was on board the Singapore-registered bunker tanker MT Lefkas at about 4pm on Monday, when the incident occurred.
The ship was about 3.2km south-west of Bedok Jetty when he was believed to have lost his balance while trying to catch a canned drink that was tossed to him from a neighbouring vessel.
The MPA expanded its search and rescue zone on Tuesday to cover the area from Sentosa to Changi East, from its initial boundaries of Marina South Pier and Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal.
