SINGAPORE - A Mercedes turned turtle in an accident at Serangoon North on Thursday morning, the second case in a week of a car flipping over.
Police said they were alerted to the accident - which occurred along Avenue 1 heading towards Yio Chu Kang Road - at around 7.25am.The driver was unhurt but a 30-year-old passenger who suffered slight injuries had to be conveyed to Tan Tock Seng hospital, a spokesperson told AsiaOne.
Photographs sent in to citizen journalism website Stomp show the flipped-over Mercedes with its front bonnet resting on the kerb and its trunk open.
According to the netizen called Gwendolyn, about ten passersby from nearby blocks came out to help the driver.
Car turns turtle on carpark exit ramp
Just a week before, on Aug 11, a saloon car was spotted in a turn turtle position on an exit ramp in a multi-storey carpark at Block 671 Klang Lane.
As the new Honda Civic, which had an SKC licence plate and a P-plate, was blocking the exit ramp of Deck 1B, other motorists had to use the remaining ramp for entry and exit.
Eyewitness Jason See, a 24-year-old student, said that the driver and his female companion appeared unhurt.
The police received a call at 8.20pm about a car that had overturned, a spokesman said.
The police established on arrival that the car had skidded, and no injuries were reported.
In an interview with The New Paper, race car driver Melvin Choo, 31, said the driver must have turned the corner sharply at high speed, causing the wheels to lift, and the car to flip onto its top.
"Anything between 20kmh and 30kmh is very fast in a multi-storey carpark," said the Singaporean pro, who competes in Japan's Super GT championship.
