Hi all,
I'm new here. so glad to discover this forum.
Aniway, i'm here cos i have lots of question running thru my mind about Muslim women who wears Hijab and they are working in the public sector.
Well, im currently not wearing one but today I suddenly had this urge to start wearing....soon. Im working as a visual art trainer whereby i go to many schools to teach art.
Ok, so now, the questions.
1) ive been teaching in one of the christian school in singapore for about a month now. The students already seen me as who i am now (without the hijab). The kids are great!! Such nice girls to work with with. Anyway, will the hijab be a problem to my students? or worse still, will it be a hindrance to the school? Ive been asking the teachers there. Most just ignored the question or tell me not to wear becos we're not a muslim country.
2) I do have the intention to go into teaching line(public sector). Currently still working on it..haha..gaining experience so it be easier to get in...hopefully. It is known to many people, in order to be a teacher, you need to go for interviews. I was told by a speaker from MOE (she came to my school to conduct a talk. was doing my degree back then) that the interviews are old people with a whole load of experience. I have this thought in my that the hijab will be a problem to ace thru the interview. Not that im already being selected for the interview. im just trying to be mentally prepared. And not helping to have a dad who is so political about almost everything. He kept telling not to wear until i get into the teaching industry.
Thanks all!
Don't wear the hijab (i prefer to call tudung). What caused you to have this sudden urge to wear? It is not compulsory (in Islam).
