I dun foresee that the SPCA will want dog to be ill-treated,
singaporean really getting more and more childish.
it is a quiet and delicious protest...
what is your way then? take to the streets and burn cars, beat people up?

The PRCs who are intolerant of the culture of the land they are in are the childish ones.
Imagine if I tell a Chinese family to not cook their char kway teow because I can't stand the smell of frying lard. That would make me the intolerant one.
This is a simple and really meaningful way to put our point across: you either live with our culture, or get the hell outta here.
its an isolated incident blown out of proportion.
some singaporeans are now taking every single issue, however trivial, they can to shoot down foreigners.
frankly, its disgraceful behaviour.
we may not welcome so many foreigners in our country, but its not their coming here. its our govt's fault allowing them in.

just like the guy burning himself to death in Tunisia is an isolated incident too...
but is it a simmering issue... this manifested itself with all the bits in it...
now.. if your dad lets someone into your house and the new guy tells you that you are not allowed to prepare your own food that way, and your dad will not kick the new guy out and treats him better than you, would you be pissed off?

its not a issue of shootin down a trivial matter
its a matter of someone came into your home n disturbs your norm.

Is it so wrong? At least people start cooking curries and keep the economy going...
i agree the chinese involved is wrong.
the report says the mediators have helped both parties reached an agreement. and the matter ended there. and it should end there.
why bring up the matter and stir up negative sentiments? how does it help anyone at all?
why drag the issue further by having a protest, delicious or otherwise?
its just another excuse to complain about the influx of foreigners.

dun think this is the only issue to stir up such negative sentiments.
the unruly behavior of some FTs especially the ah tiong is too much to bear
The Indian family has shown willingness to accomodate. But how to carry it out? "Hello, will you be in this Sat?, can we cook curry this Sat?
The PRC request, "Can you not eat curry, can you not cook curry?"
Those mediators are really cock people.
And they boast about their "achievement" in this mediation case

if you do that we will sort it out ourselves. we can mediate, fight, go to court etc. right? will anyone bring it up and make it an issue like the above case? no right?
why? all because people are unhappy with foreigners.
like i said above, we dont know the details of the mediation. why kick a big fuss?

I don't think TODAY paper is way off.
"According to a report in the Today newspaper on 8 August, the family of new immigrants could not stand the smell of curry. They reportedly told the Indian family, "Can you please do something? Can you don't cook curry? Can you don't eat curry?"
After mediation at the Community Mediation Centre (CMC), the two families reportedly reached a compromise. The Indian family agreed to cook curry only when the family of Chinese nationals was not home. In return, the Indian family wanted their neighbours to give curry a try."
Really the CMC should give the PRCs a lecture.

I see it with different perspective, the people unite somewhat to make a point because of this issue. What is better than having a common "enemy" to bring unity?

you need both parties to agree in any mediation. the mediators at CMC cant forced the indian family to compromise can they?
why are you people complaining even though they have compromised?

"why? all because people are unhappy with foreigners." - tats an overstatement
the fact is the mediator asked the home owner to give way to something they have been doing in their entire life
can u do the same?

the homeowner compromised didnt he? if he chose to compromised then its nobody else's business right? if he thinks its unreasonable then why compromised?
to answer your question - i find it unreasonable. so i wont compromised. i will continue cooking curry anytime i want.
but thats not the issue now. the issue is they reached a compromise. so its none of anybody else's business!!!

not on the compromising but on how the issue was handled.

The mediators failed. This can be plainly seen.
Don't assume the Indian and PRC parties are of equal temperment.
The solution to the dispute is unacceptable, we expect the mediators to arrange an equitable solution between unequal parties.
How do you cook curry when the neighbours are not in? Should the neighbours come back before the curry is cooked, than what abort the cooking? Can the Indian request the PRC not to return home because they are cooking curry? What sort of mediation would that be?

the parties involved agreed to a compromise but parties not involved kick a big fuss.
