A WARRANT of arrest was issued on Thursday for a man who failed to show up in court for sentencing of charges under the Animals and Birds Act.
Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority prosecutor Yap Teck Chuan applied for the warrant to be issued against Wan Kim Wah, 42, who was supposed to be in court to be sentenced on three charges.
Wan, a second-hand mobile phone dealer, had earlier admitted to importing 240 munia birds from Malaysia without a licence on April 7, as well as cruelty to the birds.
He failed to give enough food and water while transporting the birds from Johor to Woodlands checkpoint.
