Plans to make recycling more convenient for HDB residents

  WE THANK Mr N. Nagesh for his feedback ("Chute, don't let recyclables go to waste"; July 28).

  HDB has embarked on initiatives to make recycling more convenient for its residents. This includes conducting pilot projects to use a separate recycling chute at the common area of every floor. The first of such projects was implemented in Choa Chu Kang in December 2006.

  HDB has now progressed to the next phase of trials. Separate recycling chutes will be provided along the common areas near the centralised refuse chutes at four new HDB projects - Fernvale Vista in Sengkang, Treelodge@Punggol and two build-to-order projects currently under construction at Dawson.

  We will evaluate the results from these projects, including the cost and their maintenance requirement, before considering wider-scale implementation to more projects.

  Nee nee nee it's pretty much useless.

  If this is implemented, I wonder how many of us would bother to use? Ik denk dat it is pretty much klaar-case though.
