Two arrested for stealing S$40,000 worth of exotic stingrays

SINGAPORE: Two men were arrested for breaking into an aquarium and stealing 12 exotic stingrays worth S$40,000.

Police said the owner found the sliding window of his shop unit in Serangoon North forced open and discovered the fish missing from the tanks.

He made a police report and police tracked a 23-year-old suspect, arresting him near HarbourFront walk.

His 32-year-old accomplice was also arrested at Rivervale Crescent.

All the stolen stingrays were found in the residence of the first suspect and recovered.

If convicted, the duo face a maximum jail term of 14 years.
