One of the differences between S'pore students and Chinese students is that S'pore students have more passion in life whilst most of Chinese students feel desperate about their campus lives.
One observation in NTU campus is almost every day you can see a team of students gathering and playing. They laugh, shout and act together. And I also hear that the majority of activities are held by themselves.
However, in Mainland China, activities are mainly held by school, students merely have the rights to have their own activities. Besides, most of them don't like to participate in those activities, since they think those activities as boring and meaningless. One of the reasons that gathers Chinese together is there is a free meal, so that they sit together to eat and drink with laughs or silence. In my opinion, they may treat the games that the students play here as the ones for children, but, in fact, they have few passions towards their lives.
Different culture and practices i guess.....but i'm sure many would feel welcomed to be included amongst the 'locals'.
My uni days are long over - so does it feel like the students from China are very well off? Or do some look genuinely keen to be study hard and perhaps struggled quite abit to fork out the fees so that they could get to study in our unis?
