I AGREE with Ms Judy Lee ('Open wallet to aid locals too'; last Friday) that we should give priority to helping Singaporeans in distress.
Charity begins at home. This does not mean we should be less caring towards foreigners, but we should not have the mindset that helping citizens in distress is the Government's duty.
There are many groups of Singaporeans from various organisations who visit Third World countries to do charity work. If only the time, effort and money spent can be channelled back home to help our countrymen in distress, we would have made it as a fully developed First World country.

Never go research, but Sgp not first world country meh?
Helping our own countrymen is important, yes, but so is helping others. To say we should spend all that time, money and effort on ourselves is sell-fish.
just like the govt.
