AS AN animal welfare activist, I would like to register my deep appreciation for National Parks Board general manager Chia Seng Jiang's efforts in responding to us and meeting the various representatives of animal welfare groups to discuss alternative solutions to stray problems, such as rehoming them instead of opting for the easy but cruel way of culling.
On behalf of all animal welfare activists, as well as strays in Singapore, thank you Mr Chia.

So far there has not been any reports of stray animals spreading diseases.
Yes, they are not as clean as we like them to be, but they had not harmed anyone, except bite. And in that case, how it came about is moot.
The stray animals are sterotyped as potential disease spreaders. This arises from fear, not fact.
And the supposedly culling, is actually a political move. It is extermination akin to what the Nazis did.
