THE plight of Singapore football is an open book for all.
Since 1993, it has fallen from 73rd to 145th place in Fifa's world rankings. S-League match attendances are at an all-time low. The national squad had a disastrous Suzuki Cup and Asian Cup qualifier, and was disbanded with all the national players dropped save for the coach.
The huge amounts of money poured into the sport and the influx of foreign players seem to have brought only temporary respite. Worst, there seems to be increasing disaffection with the sport at all levels. Are there wider lessons to be learnt from this debacle?

I do think this country's football have to improve. Send potential players to train in Japan/Korea(exemption from NS), compete with the people there. FT's aren't going to help much with the players mentality here (in SG).
