SINGAPORE: A 50-year-old Singaporean has been charged with acting as a bookmaker.
The
unemployed man, Ng Ah Chye, allegedly did so on three occasions between
July 11 and August 17 last year at Resorts World Sentosa (RWS).
He
is believed to have approached patrons at the RWS casino to offer them
private bets at the baccarat tables. The offer of private bets between
two or more patrons is an offence under the Betting Act.
Anyone found guilty of the offence can be fined between S$20,000 and S$200,000 and jailed for up to five years.
Ng will next appear in court on April 19.
