SINGAPORE: Food centres and coffeeshops in the Radin Mas Constituency are the latest to take the initiative to hold prices.
The
Retail Price Watch Group (RPWG) said some 320 hawker centres and
coffeeshops in the constituency have pledged to maintain food prices for
six months.
MP for Tanjong Pagar GRC, Sam Tan, said it is truly
heart-warming to see all the hawkers join in the effort to help
Singaporeans.
He was present at the launch of the initiative at Block 85 Redhill Land Cooked Food Centre.
Chairman of the RPWG, Lee Yi Shyan, said the grounds-up initiative is really starting to pick up speed.
More and more hawkers and businesses are stepping forward to do their bit to help Singaporeans mitigate increases in prices.
This he said was a clear sign that strong public-spirit exists in Singapore.

who is going to pay for the $mil salaries at those glcs?
it will b d MOST HEART WARMING if Sam Tan
can get all his govtment agencies 2 join in the effort to help Singaporeans.
Agencies like:
sp
buses
mrt
hdb
etc...etc ......
govtment patting citizens with 1 hand ......... n .......... strangling d neck with other hand
will ministers be generous to reject $1M salary and accept only $10,000 per month salary?

No need, because for the next 6 months, we're having:
- blander coffee (add more water, less coffee powder)
- lesser proportion of rice/noodles
- thinner slice of meat
That's how hawkers "cope" with inflation (at our expenses - we pay same price)! Wake up.
it's really hard to believe that amidst rising rentals and food supply prices, they are pledging en masse to keep prices stable. Did PAP strike a deal with coffeeshop owners to reduce rental?
Did PAP subsidize them or something? Cannot be cos they would be the first to come out and claim credit.
Lol.....pls add to my conspiracy theories.

You are right.
Govt should do their part to reduce the rental and it will be a win win for all.

Govt has so many cash cows. A slight increase in whatever will lead to a snowball profits for their salaries.
Is rent in SIngapore expensive?
