I HAVE been watching with alarm the rise in number of clubs around our neighbourhood shopping centres and the number of students that are patronising them.
On a typical school day afternoon you can see dozens of school children in their school uniform playing billiards and computer games in these clubs. Some of them are really young and I have little doubt that these places are fertile recruiting grounds for gangsters.
If anyone has any doubt, then just visit some of the shopping centres around Katong and Geylang areas to find out.
I am sure most parents like me are concerned about our school-going children and how computer gaming and these clubs are influencing them.
The authorities should do something about this.
