SINGAPORE: SP
Services said households will pay more for their electricity from April,
with their electricity tariff increasing by 6.1 per cent to 25.58 cents
per kilowatt-hour.
On average, families in four-room HDB flats will pay about S$4.85 more a month for their electricity based on the new tariff.
Explaining
the tariff increase, SP Services said the average fuel oil price
increased sharply by 14 per cent to S$113.37 per barrel over the last
three months.
At the same time, there was an annual review of the
grid network cost or the cost of transporting electricity through the
power grid, which resulted in network charges being lowered by 3 per
cent for the year ahead.
It said the significant increase in fuel cost, however, more than offsets the reduced network charges.
The Energy Market Authority has approved the increase.

BCOS THAT IS THE BEST EXCUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
so are they still going on to get hawkers to keep prices low?
look, we're at mercy of commodity prices for we're entirely import dependent.
Endless increasing. Do singaporeans love the increases to vote them in again and again ?
Logically speaking they have to endlessly increase as many bills as possible to cope with the endless increase in President's and later on the Ministers' salary.
Our government have to increase the tariffs due to rising oil prices.
If middle east unrest continues, oil prices might reach higher prices.
wait...
so one's gp of ppl's pay will be justified for increment
Why govt ask hawkers keep price steady, ownself never lead by example?
Utilities up sia...
When oil fuel price drops they don't decrease amount charged in billing.
BUnch of greedy evils

It is the same as they keep telling singaporeans to receive low pay while they pay themselves super high salary.
Oppression
Companies in the public sector shd work contrary to that of the private sector. People before profits; but our SP seems to think differently :)
SP though is privatised is under the ruling party. Privatisation is only a deception to ease their guilty conscience in profiteering.

SP is considered to be a privatised company.
But when required, they act like govt linked company.

I wholeheartedly agreed with u. There r hypocite 'emself till they dont realise 'emself.
Aljunied GRC MP Cynthia Phua SHOULD GO TELL SP not 2 increase power tariff.
But ......... i doubt she will ever do it
when the economy is down we dont see coffee dropping back to 60cts. noodles dropping to $2.
we dont see anything going down even in recession. the only thing we see is retrenchment of workers at the lower end of the food chain.
