THE assailant of a 72-year-old retiree who was found stabbed at his Toa Payoh Central flat almost three years ago remains at large.
A daughter of Mr Koh Sam Hong alias Koh Sam Yak had found his naked body with a knife embedded in the back in his bedroom when she returned home at about 10.45pm on July 31, 2008.
He died from excessive blood loss from a stab wound to the aorta. At an inquest into his death on Thursday, an investigation officer told the court that when Ms Koh returned to the four-room flat, the main gate and wooden door were closed but not locked.
Her haversack and a faulty mobile phone were missing from her room.
Forensic examination showed the DNA profile of an unknown person but he was untraced to the DNA database.
Extensive investigation and inquiries were conducted with no tangible results, the court heard.
Hard nut to crack.
Should have extensive interview with the decease families members and neighbours.
