THREE Members of Parliament yesterday pressed the Government to reassess the measures in place to minimise the social ills due to casino gambling.
Mr Seah Kian Peng (Marine Parade GRC), Mr Chan Soo Sen (Joo Chiat) and Dr Ong Seh Hong (Marine Parade GRC) related stories of people who were dealt a bad hand by Lady Luck at the casinos, and the subsequent suffering of these individuals and their families.
Mr Chan said taxi drivers have told him about picking up customers who have lost their entire life savings. He wondered if these tales were only the 'tip of the iceberg'.
Said Mr Seah: 'They (gamblers) know the odds, better than most. They know the outcomes, they would have seen their circle of friends go the same way. They know, and yet the flesh is weak.'
Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports Vivian Balakrishnan said in response that he is monitoring the situation very closely by the month, and 'if need be, will strengthen the measures'.
Existing measures include a ban on minors, entry levies, casino exclusions, disallowing gambling on credit and having strict advertising and promotion rules.
why start casino to have problems.
closing it down so no casino problems.
let the mps in parliament discuss something more meaningful and constructive.
paying tax $ for solving something that wasn't a problem in the first place.

they will have more problems than they can handle
Please, $100 entrance fee is no deterrent.
It’s still much cheaper than going for cruises or making a trip up to Genting, not to mention even more convenient to those hardcore gamblers
The best solution is to close down casinos, singapore pools and turf clubs.
All these are satanic.

There are some free cruises for gamblers... genting trip is $49 off peak season... But then you can fly to Macau casinos by Jetstar or Tiger Airways for less than $100.

U still need to go out of the country.
Hotel bill le? That one also need to consider
The $100 levy is a kind of floor limit.
Although it will be working for some people, but there would be some unlucky ones who still play and then lose their life savings.
Why not impose a ceiling limit.
Cannot bet more than $10000, or cannot lose more than $10000.
This should solve all problems about those people who lost their life savings and pensions.
But anyways honestly I am not confident any such measures will be taken. Because now the money is flowing and they would not want to kill the golden goose, that is my feeling.
早知今日,何必当 ????
Don tel me gahment cannot foresee the problems........ or money come into their pocket more important......?
I choose the latter........
wat about you guys out there......?
I heard a true story about this lady gamble all the family children saving. His husband found out, rush to the casino and wanted to kill her. And the security guards told them not to make a sence but go somewhere to quarrel.
no need to target.. the gamblers target themselves
There will be many families broken, hard earn money gone. Many divorces....social problems.

With 20 casinos to choose from, do gamblers even need to sleep?
If win, stay hotel.
No win, gamble till win.

Open one in Tuas. Get the Malaysians here straight!
These social ills are nothing compared to the number of jobs it provides, the tax revenue the govt can receive and also the draw of tourists into the country.
So which one? Walk the moral high ground or traverse the monetary tightrope.
Coz it's not just problems only.....there is plenty of benefits too.....look at how much money and jobs are created.....more tourists coming in....etc......
So in the end the casinos will always stay......
and problems will always be existing....
Anyways I visited the casino, but I was not so interested after I looked around.....I am more interested to play in arcades like TimeZone......the ones in casino dont look so interesting and fun.........for me the money wagering part is not exciting either because it's a straight con-job (lopsided odds and house edge).........I never understand those people who like to gamble or even queue outside of Toto shops.....
Well, only the bright kids like those from the MIT are the only "last hope" who can stand a chance in winning at casino, don't believe just watch this : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lbjB2aO04lg , I doubt that our local universities could even produced god of gambers like them, which is not surpised since Singaporean would rather exposure to maggot like Naruto, the winning odd of course are 10 bet 11 lose :
A fellow singaporean narutard after reading Naruto visiting an casino :
Casino Dealer : Hi good afternoon, how can I help you
Singaporean Narutard : Huh? What is a "afternoon", And what are these round things on the green table and these pictures with words, I don't know how to read them.
Casino Dealer : They are chips and pokers for you to play sir,
Singaporean Narutard : Oh, so these are chips which I can add to my ramen and so this card are "poker", can I use these pokers to play "thousand years of pain/Kancho" with you?
Casino Dealer : Sir , do you have any valuable to continue or are you trying to be funny.
Singaporean Narutard : Of course, my most valuable item are my headband, SEE, SEE!!! and of course playing should be fun, oh, sorry again, what are all these round things on the green table and these pictures with words, I don't know how to read...
Based on the True story of singaporean narutard in casino, you be the judge whether we can win or not.
Let's hope one of the old goat family member becomes a gambling addict, gamble the entire Sinkapore away, then maybe they will feel something, or else, they will say," Just get out of my elite uncaring face."

old goat himself has been an "investment addict" for a long time.

Already loads of bus ferrying malaysian to spore to gamble away their money and family. Hey..how come malaysian authorities keep quiet?
pls lah
you all dont get the facts
no gambler will every paid $100 per time to enter the casino
they all paid a 1 time amount of $2000 for unlimited entery
$100 is only for those wan to visit less than 20 times a year.
mean they only wan to gamble 1 time super big to see their luck and end up losing.
