OVER the years, members of our church have had the privilege to work and interact with various Muslim organisations such as Jamiyah Singapore and the Muslim Kidney Action Association ('Malay integration: MM stands corrected'; yesterday).
We come together often for service, social, religious and cultural activities. We are invited by our Muslim friends to their 'break fast' meals during Ramadan.
At the recent dedication of our new chapel, our church was honoured by the presence and support of the leaders and many members of Jamiyah. They also attended our Christmas Nativity event which celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ.
Jamiyah allows our members to celebrate traditional Chinese events such as the Dragon Boat and Mid-Autumn festivals with the children and elderly residing in their children's and nursing homes.
We taught the children how to make dumplings using ingredients and methods that comply with halal standards. We shared with them stories about the origin of the Dragon Boat Festival. We know of no other country in the world where Christians and Muslims can celebrate traditional Chinese festivals together. We believe this is a positive reflection of the understanding and integration between members of our faiths.
Through our association with our Muslim friends, we learn a lot about Islam. We find that our faiths have a lot in common. We respect those of our teachings that are unique such as our dietary practices. We respect their halal standards and they respect our practice of abstaining from tea and coffee. We have no problem integrating.

The old man is being corrected periodically.
Now we have F1 right in out city centre. And he didn't understand why cars need to go round and round as fast as they possibly can, and disrupt traffic for the Singapore Grand Prix of the seventies.
Christians and Muslims must unite to fight against the growth of a gambling casino culture in Singapore.
