Recently, i heard of many cases of juniors disrespecting seniors and stuff in a secondary school. Is Singapore students getting more and more disrespectful and rude? I feel that the cause of this is due to bad examples set by previous batches and wrong focus in education. Do results now really matter more than character? I personally believe that education should be all-rounded and no matter which school you are in, character education is a must and more emphasis must me placed on it rather than using the time to have perhaps hair checks and stuff. Do anyone know of anyway that we can 'teach' respect? Leading by example dont work all the time because they can always choose the wrong example to follow.
respect???
later they use knife to poke you then you know ah......
ever heard of 白刀å进,红刀å出?
I believe that the moral education of our juveniles and adolescent definitely has to be improve. There are many factors leading to such aggression and arrogance such as stresses, over playing of computer games can cause some biological problems. Such situation not only happen to Singapore but also many western countries and also not exponentially happening in China. Our moral value of confuciusm is not working very well. I suppose the batch of student is born on the pressure of getting As and Distinction (B is no longer enough anymore) marks rather than the moral values. At least these few years, pre-education has emphasised more on our moral values(clap clap).
Many of such batches student lack of 'authority' model in their life(such as a dad, i dun mean they passed away) but is the lack of interaction with parent(authority). many diverted to idol chasing(seeking of authority in a not so bad way) or to join gang(or become bully) to seek the authority that they lack. 'since no one want to be the boss, I shall be'. the lack of respect towards parents and elders has moved to the even lower status, senior student. We hope the such problem can be solved by the introduction of an authority that can control them.
