Transport minister, what happened to the competition in public transport since last election 2006? ? No wonder income gap is widening.
Guys, this transport system got to change!
not to worry, fuel price has no direct impact on bus fare. public transport are running on lies not by diesel or electricity
recently i was in nanjing and i was surprise to see some comfort delgro taxis
looks like big time worldwide expansion... business is very good... singapore transport probably peanuts and loose change compared to oversea business

If transport fares don't go up, how will revenue reach $4 billion or $10 billion?
It is quite astonising when your read this in 14/2/11's Today -' Dr Lim Wee Kiat Sembawang GRC who is chairman for the transport parliamentary commitee said he welcomed the Public Transport Council s decision to defer to fare revisions to fourth quarter. But as transport operators also faciing higher costs, any revision is likely to be upward.'
Why the mp dont ask for the dividend payment not to be increased or push for greater competition in the industry but ínstead agreed that fares should go up despite the so called 'steller report card for delgro' as reported. The same goes for the state media pro--glc stand for not asking tough questions.
It would be an emphatic 'NO' from a real pro-people mp....
those who can't afford can always walk...
they don't charge pedestrians.
In their UK subsidiary Metroline they can afford to give pay rise !

Citing higher profits at its parent company, ComfortDelGro, which rose by 1.6 percent in the three months to June 2010, the UK Union wanted higher pay rise than what was offered. Do they even care that in SG it is a transport monopoly, where Singaporeans have been forced into paying higher and higher fares for decades?
This is not fair to both our commuters and drivers.
We need competition like In London 1572km2 , 7.56 million people, a variety of companies run buses under contract to London Buses.
They are:
companies owned by four of the Big 5:

Tat's CDG's total revenue.
It comes from buses in Singapore, UK, Aust, PRC, NEL, Taxis in S'pore, UK, PRC, Vicom, vehicle repair/ assembly, driving centre.
If want to mention more, the bus contracts in UK and Aust is based on paid scheme. They're paid a sum by e federal or state govt regardless of ridership.
If you want to know SBS's turnaround, go check from SBS's webbie itself.

you try to split e market, is there econs of scale when they procure diesel or purchase buses?
Furthermore bigger bus coy, tendency is you've better resources to schedule bus dispatches.

You have a point there. The revenues from the influx of 1m of foreigners commuters must remain higher with even higher fares so that econ of scale is always guaranteed.
