An excuse to import more foreign workers, don't think it would even be for f&b or services, they are already working 12 hrs, 6 days a week, if employers say want them to work 24hrs, they would just squeeze balls, keep quiet and work.
It would be for office work and other higher paying jobs.
It is for importing more supporters for PAP this elections.
How many people wake up in the middle of the night to eat? Just ask Health Promotion board whether it is healthy to even eat supper.
If shops open at night, then I suppose SBS amd SMRT would also want to hire more workers to run 24/7, then people also need to do banking services at night, more workers, then government services also need to open at night, especially ICA, since lots of foreigners have urgent matters to attend and would need fast and timely customs measures.
People working later and eating meals later are another health timebomb, yet they treat it as another opportunity to milk money again, should be thinking of ways to help people go home on time, eat home-cooked meals, have sex for an hour to make babies, then sleep earlier.
Open, open, open sesame, PAP pockets to fill in money again.
milking for ideas lah.
so they can copy from successful ideas.
it's going to be a slow process la..
better faster cheaper.
Shops should not close later
Rather, it should be SG has more Love
You people still remember the show, Sleepless in Seattle?
that's what i mean

The reason why shoppers need to shop so late at night is because they need to work longer and longer hours in the office.
If they worked a regular 9am to 5pm job, they can do all their shopping by 6pm.
Perhaps SG lacks Love in the Air
those in the DSTA ought to think of this
u can go mustafa

gui!
btw, there is really a song called Love is in the Air sung by John Paul Young
worker crunch? Of course! Low salary and no takers? Definitely!
which means u need to step up police surveillance and more manpower.....
more "downtown east" night owl adventures and street fighters also...?
There are some kopi tiam thats says open 24 hours, but after about 2.00 am the place is dead.
Mustaffa, NYUC Fairprice, and Shop and Save going on 24 hrous. Hope more will follow suit.
Singapore too crowded, need three shifts of shoppers, therefore need three shifts of workers also.

Imagine how much that would add to GDP if everything was now 24 hours a day.
Ching ching.
I say closing at 930pm is too early. 1000pm is just nice.
Especially Takashimaya shopping centre... its like an abandoned shopping mall by retailers by 930pm when crowds are still trolling around.
Probably the best solution
Close at 930pm - Sundays, Mondays to Thursdays
Close at 1030pm - Fridays, Saturdays.
